Drive-In/Drive-Thru Pallet Racking

Drive-in and drive-thru pallet racking systems are high-density storage solutions designed to maximize storage capacity by reducing the number of aisles. Unlike conventional racking, these systems allow forklifts to drive directly into the racking structure to place and retrieve pallets. This setup is particularly well-suited for facilities that store large quantities of the same product and prioritize storage density over immediate access to every pallet.

Drive-In vs. Drive-Thru Racking

  • Drive-In Racking: This system operates on a last-in, first-out (LIFO) basis, where pallets are loaded and unloaded from the same entry point. It is ideal for items that do not require strict inventory rotation.
  • Drive-Thru Racking: This system operates on a first-in, first-out (FIFO) basis, with entry and exit points on both ends of the racking structure. This makes it better suited for perishable or time-sensitive items that require rotation.
